Everybody breathes the same contaminated air. Due to the emissions from petroleum-based private transportation this problem is escalated in heavily populated and developed areas. The proposed solution is to decrease air pollutants from vehicle emissions by limiting the usage of single-occupancy vehicles and turning to alternative means of transportation such as public vehicles. In order to encourage this switch, we propose to develop a mobile application that performs data analysis for recommendations on alternative transit options. The application will be named, “What’s My Route?” and will record daily transit information by commuters of varying modes of transport. With the use of GPS, the application will constantly record location data, speed, heading and transit time. The recorded data will allow insights into how public transportation is utilized and also expedite the identification of popular routes.
