The Kudzu Crew is researching an alternative solution to kudzu, an invasive vine that has become known as “the plant that ate the south.” Normally, the plant is treated with an extensive and long-term herbicide treatment, but these treatments tend to dramatically hurt the soil and plants around it. As kudzu tends to grow over other plants, this affect can be especially significant. We are researching and running experiments on killing kudzu via direct injection of chemicals. We hope that this method will be more effective than spray and have less of an effect on the environment.
