Dr. Anjali Bohlken

Anjali Bohlken is an Assistant Professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. Her research focuses on the political economy of development, and employs quantitative analyses of data derived from India and other developing country contexts. Her specific substantive interests include the politics of infrastructure provision, the causes and consequences of democratic local governance and the link between climate change and local level politics. Prior to joining the faculty at Georgia Tech, Anjali was a faculty member in the Department of Political Science at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She obtained her Ph.D. from New York University in 2010.

Research Interest(s): I am interested in the causes and consequences of underdevelopment and economic marginalization, the conditions that facilitate public service provision and access to services and the conditions that facilitate democratic accountability. Much of my work focuses on India.

Use your first year to explore and figure out what you’re passionate about learning.

What is one thing most students don't know about you? When I was a graduate student in New York City, I developed a love for opera and I still enjoy listening to opera music.
