Office of International Education

The Office of International Education (OIE) offers many opportunities to students including study abroad and global internships.

Study Abroad
Students are able to participate in general study abroad, exchange programs and FLSA/summer programs.

  • 138 programs available
  • 38 countries

Students pay in-state tuition rates (plus a $250 fee for out of state students. Georgia Tech-Lorraine participants pay a $3,500 fee) when studying abroad. OIE offers many scholarships to help defray the costs of studying abroad.

International Plan
Georgia Tech offers a globally-focused degree designation, recognizing students who have committed to making global competence part of their GT curriculum.
Designation Requirements:

  • Develop proficiency in a language other than English
  • Complete a minimum of 26 weeks of coherent international experience
  • Complete three globally-oriented courses, plus a capstone in the major
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7 overall

Global Internships
In addition to studying abroad, students can fulfill the International Plan requirements by interning abroad. Internships must be full-time and related to the student's major. Students may intern during any semester and can intern over multiple terms.
